<hi style=afpcap>The FP-80A was a modified version of the P-80 fighter dedicated to the photographic reconnaissance role with a extended nose housing cameras. The guns were deleted from the nose from this and most subsequent reconnaissance types, as for many decades the role was carried out without a defensive capability. The FP-80 was the first jet reconnaissance aircraft with 152 being delivered. The designation changed to RF-80A in June 1948.</hi>
